Two New Layouts

Hello all!

I just stopped by to share a couple of  new layouts with you.

First up: my brother and his wife had their first child, making me an aunt for the very first time.  Their little girl is a blessing to be sure; and the picture that was taken when they placed my niece in my brother's arms for the first time speaks volumes.   The love and adoration on his face pulled at my heartstrings, and I just had to scrap that picture.  (I've blacked out the picture until I can get permission to show it; but you can still see the lo!)

This layout has lots of layers!  I used My Mind's Eye, Colorbok, the Paper Studio, and Bazzill papers, Quick Quotes "Daddy's Little Girl" vellum quote, some paper doilies, lace, rosettes with beads, fussy cut flowers, pearls, Delight & Hatbox Thickers, Colorbox ink in Merlot & Cocoa, and Crackle Accents on the letters.  I love how soft and feminine the colors are.

Next up:  This layout was completed back in April, but this is the first time I've had a chance to upload it!

The day before Easter of this year, we went to the local Easter Egg Hunt so my youngest could hunt eggs.  They also had games, a petting zoo and a pony ride.  Once my youngest saw the ponies, he had to ride them!  I made my teenager walk beside the youngest so that I could take pictures!!!

I love the combination of Bo Bunny and the Paper Studio papers; and I love the distressing and the fan.  But my favorite part of this lo is the lyric sheet.  I found the lyrics on-line and printed them onto a piece of khaki colored paper.  Then I distressed and inked the edges.  A very unique-to-me embellie!

I hope this post finds you all well and enjoying the warmer weather; at least it's finally warmer here!!

Hugs;
Denay

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your holiday with friends, family and lots of love.

I've grabbed a few minutes of scrappy time and want to share a Christmas layout with you all.  The pictures are from Christams 2011.  My youngest daughter is missing from the pictures because she was in Texas with her grandparents.

Santa Claus (my husband) visits our house annually on Christmas morning; this tradition started with my youngest son's first Christmas and has continued since.  On this Christmas morning, my youngest was so excited to see Santa; he was all smiles.  I love the group shot, the kids were acting goofy....which is the norm for my house!!!

The Christmas papers are from really old paper collections that I've had for years.  I distressed the edges of all three papers, added a little stitching, a chipboard Santa, fussy cut holly leaves, a journal block and the chipboard title.  I added X-mas Red stickles to the title and the holly berries in the top right corner.  A quick and simple holiday layout.

My little scrappy break is just about over, I gotta finish the turkey and all the sides, before my kids "die" of starvation!!  Merry Christmas again!

Little Prince

I can't believe so much time has passed since my last post.  In my defense, my oldest daughter had her Senior Prom, Graduation, move in day at the dorm, and my other teens have started a new year at school.  All of this in addition to everyday life!!!!  I haven't had any scrap time in over 4 months, but I finally found a little time today and boy was I inspired!

I don't normally scrap with a lot of negative space, those layouts just don't feel complete to me.  However, I was checking in at Scrapbook.com today and found a new to me Challenge entitled "Negative Space Challenge".  As I was reading the directions and looking at the examples, I began to feel the creative juices start flowing!  I was so excited....I really never thought I'd get my scrappy mojo back, but I did!!  This is what I came up with:

This is a picture of my youngest, he was just a few days old.  I started with the color of his sleeper, that beautiful light teal color.  I double matted the picture in shades of teal.  Then I cut strips of paper in various sizes and staggered them on the background.  The crown above the picture and the stars to the right are Bo Bunny Cambridge rub-ons, and the stars going down the left side of the picture are chipboard stickers from Bo Bunny Cambridge collection.  For the title, I painted the chipboard with a gold acrylic paint.  Then I added the gems to the crown and the "i's" to add just a touch of sparkle. The background paper and the darker mat are Bazzill, and the lighter mat is a glittery cardstock I had in my stash.

I really liked how this layout turned out.  I love all the negative space and the simplicity of the design.  Let me know what you think and if you happen to give the negative space layout a try, let me know...I'd love to see it.
